Privacy Policy
Tab Ducker is designed to perform its audio detection and volume-control functions locally in the user's browser.
Data collection
Tab Ducker does not collect, sell, transmit, or share personal information, browsing history, page contents, audio recordings, analytics, advertising identifiers, or usage telemetry with the developer or any third party.
Local processing
To decide when selected tabs should be ducked, the extension reads browser tab state and may locally sample the instantaneous waveform level of compatible HTML audio or video elements. This analysis occurs only on the user's device. Audio is not recorded, saved, uploaded, or transmitted.
Local storage
The extension stores user settings locally in the browser, including the selected ducking percentage, sound threshold, selected tab identifiers, and temporary runtime state needed to display the current ducking status. This information is not sent to an external server.
Permissions
- Tabs: used to identify open tabs, detect browser-reported audio activity, show tab names/icons in the popup, and coordinate ducking.
- Storage: used to save extension settings and runtime state locally.
- Website access: the content script runs on ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages so it can adjust compatible media volume, detect compatible local media levels, and temporarily change the favicon of a ducked tab.
Network access
The extension contains no code that sends user information to a remote service and does not depend on remotely hosted scripts.
Changes
If Tab Ducker's data practices change in a future release, this policy will be updated before that release is distributed.
